Robert Snyder started as a painter, mentored by Ilya Bolotowsky and Ibram Lassaw, and worked alongside artists like Willem de Kooning, Jasper Johns, and Roy Lichtenstein. He curated at the Parrish Museum, Guild Hall, and the Met/Queens Museum, and discovered pottery while earning his Master's at Pratt Institute. It quickly became his real passion, and his work was later featured on the Fine Living Channel's Back to Basics.

For over 30 years he also worked as an advertising Executive Creative Director, running agencies and managing client portfolios, an experience that shaped how he sees the big picture in his art. He works primarily in porcelain, originally strictly wheel thrown, and now incorporating hand building since the pandemic opened new paths in his craft. He believes pottery is the bond between earth, art, and utility, and each piece is a canvas for an idea, a feeling, or a shape.
